The Marist Brothers of the
Schools (FMS)
The Marist Brothers have two communities in the Deanery – at
Marist College Ashgrove
(Years 5-12 College for boys day and boarding) and
Marist College Rosalie (Years
8-12 day boys)
The Marist Brothers were
established in 1817 by a French Marist priest, St. Marcellin Champagnat, to make
Jesus known and loved in an educational setting. There are 18 brothers at
Ashgrove and 5 at Rosalie. The Brothers live and work in partnership with the
laity. As Marists, “Brothers and Laity together in mission in the Church and in
the world, among the young, especially the most neglected, we are sowers of the
Good news, with a distinctive Marist style….”
Mary the mother of Jesus is
the perfect model of the Marist education and animates the spirituality of
community and school life.
