The baptism of an infant is the beginning of a child’s faith life and journey with the Christian community. It is therefore an important decision for parents to make on behalf of their child. Normally baptisms take place in your parish church as it is within this community that your child will grow into the ways of faith. For a child to be baptised a Catholic is it essential that one parent is a Catholic and that both parents agree to nurture the faith life of the child as much as possible. It is also essential that Godparents are baptised Christians, one being a Catholic.
Baptism of infants is celebrated following the 9am Mass every first Sunday morning in the St Brigid’s Catholic Church Rosewood, and every second Sunday morning in St Mary’s Catholic Church, Gatton , and every third Sunday morning St Patrick’s Catholic Church, Laidley. The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults

Here in the Parishes of Gatton, Laidley and Rosewood we work with people in groups to allow this exploration to take place. Each year at the Easter Vigil adults are Baptised, Confirmed and welcomed to the Table of the Eucharist. This is the culmination of quite a lengthy and formative process.
